Salamanca

Salamanca is a monumental city and the old part of the city was declaced a UNESCO world heritage site in 1988.

Salamanca university is the 3rd oldest in the world and the city has been an important seat for learning for more than eight centuries. It remains popular with students from all over the world, who come to Salamnca to learn Spanish.

The city sits on the river Tormes and people are sometimes surpised to learn that it is more than 800 metres above sea level.
